FLASHING POLICE LIGHTS ON AN UNMARKED CAR CAN BE A SIGN OF DANGER
It was about 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend. What appeared to be an unmarked police car pulled up behind her and flashed lights at her. Lauren's parents had told her to never pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road rather, she was instructed to wait until she got to a gas station.
Lauren actually listened to her parents advice, and promptly called *77 on her cell phone to tell the police dispatcher that she would not pull over right away. She proceeded to tell the dispatcher that there was an unmarked car with a flashing red light on his rooftop behind her. The dispatcher checked to see if there were police cars in the area that Lauren was driving through, and informed her that there were not any. The dispatcher told her to keep driving, remain calm, and that back up police were on the way.
Ten minutes later four cop cars surrounded Lauren and the unmarked car behind her. One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind. They pulled the man in the unmarked vehicle from the car and tackled him to the ground. The police found that the man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
Many people do not know about the *77 Cell Phone Feature, but it is an especially important one for women driving alone to be aware of. If you are driving alone and an unmarked car is attempting to pull you over, do not stop without calling *77 first. Police must respect your right to keep driving until you have reached a safe place to pull over.
A service representative at ** Bell ** Mobility confirmed that *77 was a direct link to state trooper information, and that this feature applies to all 50 states.
So, now it's your turn to let your friends know about the *77 feature. You may want to send this article to every woman (and man) that you know; it may save a life.
